Longevity deferral amounts once entered into the central payroll system continue to be deferred year after year if no changes are made. You may change your longevity deferral amount at any time. The change will take place for your next longevity payment if it is made at least 30 days prior to the longevity payment date. You must change your deferral amount at least 30 days before the pay date you wish the change to take effect.

1. State employees on central payroll may enter their longevity deferral amount using the Edison ESS>Benefits>Deferred Compensation Enrollment path.

2. Scroll down the page to see the amount previously elected for deferral of longevity.

3. The amount in the longevity deferral box marked current will continue to be deferred on your longevity date until you change the amount in the desired amount box and submit your change request.

4. If the amount you request to be deferred is greater than the amount available for deferral after applying related FICA (and income tax if a 401(k) Roth after tax deferral) then the deferral will occur at that reduced amount.
