State CapitolRecognizing the need to provide an education related work experience in State of Tennessee Government to students, the three Constitutional Officers created the Careers NOW Program to allow junior, senior and graduate students who attend college in Tennessee and Tennessee residents who attend out-of-state colleges an opportunity to work in the Department of Treasury, Department of State, and the Comptroller of the Treasury department. The Careers NOW Program broadens students' awareness of the roles these Constitutional offices have in the governing process and of the careers in these offices and other agencies.

"During my time as a Careers NOW intern, I have had the opportunity to meet and work alongside the equity portfolio and bond managers that oversee the retirement funds of the state of Tennessee. I've been able to participate in a wide range of activities including equity analysis, modeling, and research. Consequently, I've gained a greater knowledge and depth of understanding in those areas as they apply to real-world investment. In addition, I've been exposed to both Bloomberg and FactSet, which are arguably the most predominant platforms for information and trading in the securities industry. The Careers NOW internship has truly afforded me the opportunity to grow professionally in a challenging yet supportive environment." back to top

"Throughout my college years we discussed behavior and interaction trends in the business world but in the Careers NOW program I have had the opportunity to gain first hand knowledge and experience. My experience includes but was not limited to assisting in the redevelopment phases of the Careers NOW web page and interacting with the members of the TCRS (Tennessee Consolidated Retirement Services). Additionally, I was responsible for correspondence with several colleges/universities which afforded me the opportunity to improve my written communication skills. The Careers NOW program was a very rewarding experience!"back to top
