Welcome to Unclaimed Property

We may be holding unclaimed property that belongs to you. Millions of dollars are turned over annually to the State of Tennessee by businesses and organizations who cannot locate the owners. This includes property such as bank accounts, stock certificates, checks, unclaimed wages, refunds, and gift certificates, but not vehicles or real estate.
After organizations lose contact with you, they are required by law to turn those assets over to the State of Tennessee's Unclaimed Property Division. The Unclaimed Property Division then holds these assets in trust for their rightful owners until it can locate them and return their property. It does not charge the owners for this service nor for processing their claims for their lost or forgotten property.
We invite you to see if the State of Tennessee is currently holding any unclaimed property on your behalf by following our links to Search for Property. If you should find that it is, then we suggest you also look at the links that explain the Claims Process and specify what documents you will need to produce to prove your ownership.
Reporting Unclaimed Property
Anyone who owes money or property to an individual or business in Tennessee is required by law to file an annual report with the Unclaimed Property Division by May 1st showing any property abandoned as of December 31st of the prior year. If you think this could apply to you or your business or organization, you are strongly encouraged to review the information provided under the Reporting Unclaimed Property link to better understand the reporting process and your reporting obligations.
