Nashville, TN – State Treasurer David H. Lillard, Jr. has named Carrie Green, CFA the new Director of Equity for the Tennessee Department of Treasury. Following an extensive nationwide search, Green was chosen to lead the Equities team of the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System (TCRS), where she will oversee a number of equity portfolios with differing objectives and teams to deliver the desired returns for the asset class. The Treasury Investments Division is responsible for internally managing over $60 billion in state assets, including the TCRS valued at over $49.6 Billion.

Ms. Green is the first woman to lead an asset class for the Tennessee Treasury. She moves to this role after serving as a Senior Portfolio Manager of Private Equity Assets, responsible for evaluating funds and managers, monitoring the existing portfolio, and cultivating and maintaining general partner relationships. She also served as a Portfolio Manager in the public equities for ten years, where she participated in the active management of various large-cap and mid-cap domestic equity portfolios. Additionally, she assists in the management of the International Public Equity manager portfolio and leads the Investment Division’s internship program.

Equities is the largest portion of the TCRS portfolio. At the end of 2018 fiscal year the equities accounts for $26 Billion or 52% of the overall portfolio. The Equities portfolio is primarily internally managed, consisting of both actively and passively managed fundamental and quantitative funds in both domestic and international markets, with external actively managed funds in developed international markets.

“During her 15-year tenure with Treasury, Carrie Green has proven herself to be a thoughtful and disciplined investor,” said Treasurer Lillard. “I am confident she will lead the Equities Portfolio to higher levels of performance.”

Ms. Green is a Tennessee native with a B.B.A. in Economics from Lambuth University and a Masters of Arts in Economics from Middle Tennessee State University. She also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. She serves on the Board of Rock the Street, Wall Street, a financial literacy program designed to spark the interest of high school girls into careers in finance, and is a member of the Economics and Finance Advisory Board at Middle Tennessee State University. She resides in Nashville with her husband and daughter.
